Elizabeth Peyton's portraits of friends and celebrities are bold and graphic. Still, the degree of intimacy apparent in her work demonstrates a personal importance. Although her art is entirely dependent on popular culture, she chooses to celebrate the aesthetics of fame and youth rather than bash it.
