Peter Doig is a contemporary painter who is now working out of an abandoned rum factory in Trinidad. His paintings bring about a sense of early modernism while retaining a particularly contemporary aesthetic. One notable feature of his paintings is the fact that they almost always split into a signature composition of three equal horizontal planes(this is not always the case with his drawings, which I included as well) Check out more on Saatchi Gallery here or on artnet here.
