Philippe Druillet

Really amazing work from Philippe Druillet, a French comicker and illustrator, who was most popular in the 70's and 80's.  He joined forces with Moebius to create the sci fi comics anthology magazine Metal Hurlant, which later came to the US with the name Heavy Metal.  You can check out his website here or this awesome flickr gallery of his work here.

Elizabeth Peyton's portraits of friends and celebrities are bold and graphic. Still, the degree of intimacy apparent in her work demonstrates a personal importance. Although her art is entirely dependent on popular culture, she chooses to celebrate the aesthetics of fame and youth rather than bash it.
